
Edwin J. Zenon, Warrant Officer-4, United States Army (Ret), went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2014. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Akron, Ohio and was known as “Zeke” to his military comrades. Edwin cherished his family and was a man of faith. He graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor’s degree and proudly served in the United States Army for twenty-five years. During his distinguished military career served in the 421st Army Band and eventually advanced to the grade of warrant officer, serving as a helicopter pilot during 3 tours in Vietnam. He also flew helicopters in Korea and served tours in Germany and The Congo, Africa. Zeke received many service medals and military commendations during his service, including the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with 22 devices, and the Army Commendation Medal. Other awards included the Army Aviator Badge, the Valorous Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver & 3 Bronze Service Stars.
Mr. Zenon was a man of faith and held his family close to his heart. He was a collector of coins, as well as jazz records. He was a musician and an avid reader. Zeke loved horticulture and going to First Monday trade days in Canton. He was a very loving and caring man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Zeke was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Rita and his sister, Elaine Connelly.
Warrant Officer Zenon is survived by his son, Robert Zenon, of Tool, his daughter Liane Costello and her husband, John, of Los Angeles, CA, his brother Michael Zenon and wife Sandy of Arlington, TX and other loving family members and many more friends.
