

Ell Dee graduated from Dalhart High School and attended Texas Tech University. He returned to his hometown, Dalhart, and married Kay Lynn Field. He spent 65 years in Dalhart before moving to Kemp, TX in 2008 in order to be closer to his grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports in Lucas, Texas.
Ell Dee was heavily involved in the First Baptist Church in Dalhart and Gun Barrel City and deeply rooted in his faith and witnessing for the Lord. He was a Deacon for 40 years and enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher. During his life in Dalhart he served on numerous boards in the community: Farm Bureau, Dalhart Consumers, FHA, Chamber of Commerce, Little Dribblers, and was active in 4H. He was a lifetime member of the Quarter Horse Association as well as numerous cattle and horse associations. He was a steward of the land and enjoyed his life of farming, ranching, raising Angus cattle and Quarter horses.
He is survived by his wife of ¬51 years, Kay Lynn Field and their three sons; Douglas Dee Field, married to Beth Grant-Field; Dan James Field, married to Paula Smith-Field, and their two children, Hannah Nicole Field and Reece Avery Field; and David Quinton Field; his sister-in-law, Fern Hamilton, and her three daughters, Leslie Kaye Reeves, Jamie Carter and Laurie Forks as well as many cousins.
