Frances Marion Martin

Frances Marion Martin, 78, of Gun Barrel City, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Martin. She was born on March 31, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Francis and Phyllis Czernicki. She married the love of her life in 1967 and they remained deeply devoted and in love until his passing in March of 2024 after 56 years of marriage.

Fran retired in 2011 after many years of being an administrative assistant/office manager. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, entertaining, and “grandmothering” the most. Fran & Joe went on over 30 cruises throughout their life, especially enjoying Alaska. They also spent a lot of time at Disney World when they were living in Florida, particularly when they could bring their grandsons with them. After their years in Florida, they moved to Tennessee and were so happy being in the Smoky Mountains. They made a lot of special friends there and we will always love those TN “Locals”.

Fran is survived by her daughter Eileen LeRoy and son-in-law, Bill; son Steven Martin; grandchildren Billy LeRoy, Joey LeRoy, Morgan Martin, Cameron Martin, and Brady Martin; sisters Natalie Welch (Larry) and Carolyn Eastberg; brother-in-law David Martin (Yvonne); and very special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Raymond & Julia Martin; and her brothers-in-law Jimmy Martin, Ray Martin, and John Eastberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran’s honor to The Lodge Assisted Living & Memory Care, 155 Dunaway Avenue, Gun Barrel City, Texas 75156. Please make a special note that this donation is to be used for Memory Care needs/improvements in honor of Fran.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee, at a later date.
