

Frances Jo Sanderford, 83 of Gun Barrel City passed on October 22nd, 2022, at home in Gun Barrel City, Texas, surrounded by family after the long battle of failing health.
Frances Jo Sanderford was born September 16th, 1939, at home in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas to John W Copper and Thelema “Sugie” Thorpe Deere. In 1949 Frances Jo was adopted by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon Thorpe Sr. in Galveston, Texas. Over the years with her family, she moved all over Texas. In the 1950’s Frances’ family moved to Corsicana, Texas where she meet her husband, Roy Dee Sanderford. They were married on September 16, 1957. Together they had four children, three sons and one daughter.
Early in the marriage they moved to Arlington, Texas to raise their family. For about 17 years Frances worked at Arlington Memorial Hospital until deciding to stay at home with their youngest child in 1975. Frances from that point on was a devoted housewife and mother.
When she was younger, she enjoyed planting flowers in the flower bed, sewing clothes etc. She had a love for books and grocery shopping her whole life.
She was preceded in death by both of her biological and adoptive parents, John W. Copper and Thelema “Sugie” Thorpe Deere, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon Thorpe Sr.; her stepfather Herman Deere; her husband, Roy Dee Sanderford and son, Roy Lynn Sanderford.
She is survived by her son, H. Lesley Sanderford of Gun Barrel City, Texas; son, H. Wesley Sanderford of Gun Barrel City, Texas; daughter, Cheryl L. Nix; grandson, Terrance B. Sanderford of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Matthew D. Sanderford of DFW, Texas; grandson, David R. Sanderford of New York; granddaughter, Taunya J. Sanderford of New York; granddaughter, Michelle L. Thomasson and her husband, Lewis L. Thomasson Jr. of Gun Barrel City, Texas; granddaughter, April S. Pearce and her Wife, Rachel Pearce of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Tara J. Trimmins of Gun Barrel City, Texas; grandson, N. Alan Nix Jr., currently stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego, CA.; grandson, C. Jerrad Trimmins of Gun Barrel City, Texas; Hailey M. Nix of Greenville; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Sanderford of Arlington, Texas; along with several nieces, nephews, close family and friends.
