Rev. James Handley Jacobs

Rev. Jacobs was born on April 19, 1932, in Greenville, Texas. He received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Clarksville School of Theology. He was married to Peggy Maxine Turney.

Rev. Jacobs took his first pastoral role in 1964 at Aberfoyle Baptist Church in Wolfe City, TX. In 1969, the Lord led him to First Baptist Church in Gunter, TX. He then was led to many other communities where he continued to serve the Lord, including: Wadill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, TX, First Baptist Church in Mabank, TX, First Baptist Church in Rusk, TX, Beall Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, TX, and Second Baptist Church in Vernon, TX. He preached many revivals throughout the state of Texas during his career and preached on a weekly radio station for two years.

Rev. Jacobs continued his calling by preaching the Gospel and sharing the Good News even after retirement, often preaching weekly at the Mabank Nursing Home.

Rev. Jacobs was preceded in death by wife Peggie Maxine Jacobs. He is survived by son James Jacobs and wife Julie; six grandchildren: Amanda Jacobs-Carey and husband Dewayne, Bobby Jacobs and wife Pam, Michael Jacobs and wife Elizabeth, Melissa Warrick and husband Cody, Aaron Harris and wife Crystal, and Tyler Harris; eight great-grandchildren: Grace Carey, AJ Jacobs, Katelyn Jacobs, Chloe Jacobs, Avery Carey, Parker Harris, Olivia Harris, and Bennett Harris.

Funeral arrangements are as followed:

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, from 2PM to 4PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Mabank, Texas.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 10AM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Mabank, Texas.

Graveside service will be on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 3PM at the Cathedral In The Pines in Tyler, Texas.

Pallbearers are Michael Jacobs, Dewayne Carey, Cody Warrick, Aaron Harris, Tyler Harris, and Mitch Baker.
