Johnnie James Black, age 84, of Mabank passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Johnnie was born May 17, 1937 in Hopkins, TX.; to parents, Stellean and Jake Black. He was an adventurous and amiable man, who enjoyed hunting for deer, squirrel, and coon. Johnnie was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great-great-grandfather, who loved playing and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. After 35 years, Johnnie retired from the his honorable duty with the City of Dallas, on May 26, 1992. He could grab anyone's attention with his detailed stories. Johnnie adored his vacations with his best friends, Bobby and Gwen Lammons. They would always travel together, Bobby was like a brother to Johnnie.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Doris Black; daughter, Donna Holland of Mabank, TX.; son, Michael and wife Pattie Black of Mabank, TX.; brothers, David Black of Mabank, TX.; and Jimmy and wife Vickie Black of Forney, Tx.; sister, Rosemary Cox of Quinlan, TX.; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Beau Burelsmith, John and wife Tiffany Dawdy, Wendy and husband Joe Law, Carissa and husband Matthew Ortolon, Brandon Black and Dennis Black Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-greatgrandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Stellean and Jake Black; son, Dennis Black; his brothers, Jake Black Jr., Wilbur Lee Black, Charles Black, Gary Dale Black, Robert Black, Bill Black and Don Black; sisters Geraldine Bain and Jane Kirby.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home; located in Mabank, TX. A Celebration of Life service will occur Friday, February 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers are John Dawdy , Joe Law, Beau Burelsmith , Matthew Ortolon, Brandon Black and Timothy Black. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Joe Lammons and Eddie Black.
