Born July 27, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma, Lynda was the daughter of the late Lloyd Jessie Yates and the late Mildred Neva Wyatt Yates. She succeeded her husband, Sammy DeWitt Byars; her twin brother, Jackie Yates; her sisters, June, Bobbie, and Sarah; her grandson, Johnny Dane Taylor; and preceded her adorable Lily, an 18-year-old Yorkie-Chihuahua mix that she loved dearly. Lynda was a wonderful mother that we will miss terribly, but mostly she was “Mema” to everyone and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much. She loved her family deeply.
She was a stay-at-home mom with a gift for sewing and crafting. Lynda loved teaching her daughters how to sew and make crafts from paper, fabric, you name it. She also had a green thumb, you wouldn’t believe. Later in life, she was an avid quilter who made the most darling Sun Bonnet Sue quilts that everyone adored – even strangers. She had a love for puzzles, especially the “easy” ones, and anything with an animal on it.
Lynda is survived by her children Tracye Byars Golembiewski of Hideaway, Texas, Kim Byars Croisant of Justin, Texas, and Darrell Byars of Watauga, Texas; her grandchildren Kirsi Ingram, Karah Kidd, and Kolby Kidd; her great-grandchildren, Layla King, Johnny Dane Taylor, Jr., Taryn Ingram, Gavin Taylor, Kingston Kidd, Brody Taylor, Mazie Ingram, Hinley Ingram, Kai Ingram, Vintage Trisdale, and Fancy Trisdale; many nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Roger Byars. There’s no better tenderness than a mother’s love.
A celebration of Lynda’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. The family will receive friends for half an hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park in Mabank, Texas.
