Nora "Nonie" Mae Byrd

Nora “Nonie” Byrd entered into rest on March 21st, 2021. Nonie was born on August 13th, 1958, in Galveston, to Melvin and Betty (Mitts) Dutton. Nonie was a selfless woman who took care of everyone before herself. Nonie was also a loving devoted wife to her husband Michael. They were married on April 17th, 1976 and shared 45 unforgettable years together. Over the years they went on to build a beautiful family together. She was a kind and generous woman who was known as mom to all. Her favorite role in this life was being a “Nana.” When she wasn’t spending time with her family you could catch her reading a good book or crocheting. She enjoyed making her grand and great grandchildren blankets to show how much she adored them. Nonie will forever be in the hearts of the ones who cherished her the most and she will be forever missed but never forgotten.

Nonie was preceded in death by her parents Melvin Sr. and Betty Dutton; sister, Sharon Anderson; brother, Melvin Dutton Jr.; brother-in-law, David Dulworth. She is survived by her husband Michael Byrd; daughters, Vanessa and husband Kenneth Cartmill, Misty Ames; granchildren, Peyton, Kolby, McKynna, and AJ Cartmill, Kayla and husband Buddy Tucker, Zachary Flores, Lonnie Sanders IV, Michael and Carson Ames; great grandchildren, Rian, Phoenix, Bear, and Nora Tucker; sisters, Melva Dulworth, Brenda and husband David Craig; brothers, David and wife Sheila Dutton, Arnold and wife Linda Dutton, Phillip Dutton; brother-in-law Larry Anderson; and lots of nieces and nephews.
