

Patricia Joan Potter Campagna Hinton, aged 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023. She was born on November 13th, 1928, in Dallas, Texas to HQ and Minnie Potter. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her feel loved. Joan will always be lovingly remembered as the “go to” person who would get the job done. In her free time, Joan enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, and was always eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Throughout her life, she was known for her leadership and service in many fraternal and philanthropic organizations which included Grand Worthy Matron of Texas Eastern Star; Mother Advisor of Elmwood Rainbow Assembly; leader of Campfire Girls and Blue Birds; President of Oak Cliff Woman’s Club, Cedar Creek Woman’s Club and many years as the PTA President during her children’s educational careers, as well as several Masonic women’s groups, dual memberships in several eastern star chapters and so much more.
Joan finished out her years as a resident of the Texas Masonic Retirement Community and passed away peacefully with her son, Mark, at her side. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her 2 children from A.J Campagna (preceded in death in 1979); Karen Campagna Charles spouse Dave Charles and their 5 children and 3 sons-in-law, Stephanie Hardeman (spouse Danny Hardeman), Stacy Sutherland (spouse Eric Sutherland), Jennifer Story, Brian Charles and Samantha Wilson (spouse Chris Wilson) and their 8 grandchildren; Darian, Sarah, Kyle, Zachary, Emily, David, Cooper and Maddie; and Mark Campagna spouse Liz Campagna and their 5 children and 3 daughters-in-law, Joseph Campagna (spouse Denise Campagna), Chris Campagna (spouse Grace Stevens), Jennifer Williams, Aaron Waldron (spouse Brittany Waldron) and Nicholas Waldron and their 11 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Natalie, Julia, Matthew, Sienna, Miles, Christian, Kaiden, Ryleigh, McKenna and Boston.
Joan is also survived by 2 shared children with Olen Hinton (preceded in death in 1996); Howard Hinton and his 1 child and 1 son-in-law, Jenny DeWitt (spouse Tony DeWitt), and his 2 grandchildren, Austen DeWitt (spouse Kate DeWitt) and Cole DeWitt, and his great grandson; and Dennis Hinton spouse Anne Marie Hinton and their 1 child Jordan Hinton (spouse Jason Darius).
Joan is preceded in death by 1 grandson, Jamison Ryan Vachon Hinton.
Funeral Service, followed by a short Graveside burial will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Laurel Land Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, starting at 2pm.
