Philip Don Reed was born on July 1, 1940 in Stephenville, Texas to parents Lewis and Margie Reed and entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2019 in Athens, Texas at the age of 79. Philip grew up in Bisbee, Arizona where he attended high school, becoming a member of the class of 1958. He continued his education at UT El Paso and the University of North Texas where he attained his Master’s Degree in Engineering. For 30 years Philip worked as a high school teacher for the Dallas Independent School District. He enjoyed playing football while he was in college, and later after he retired, enjoyed gardening and hauling hay.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mattillee McVay.
Philip is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mignon Clark Reed of Tool, son Kevin Reed and wife Pam of New Orleans, LA, sister Wilma Lundt of Havelock, NC, brother-in-law Lynn Clark and wife Ann of Coppell, nephews Christian Clark of Dallas, the late Daniel Pickens, and Clifford Elliott of Baton Rouge, LA, nieces Cassie Wimberly (husband Travis) of Austin, Lena Ennis of Newport, NC, and Elizabeth Jones of Baton Rouge, LA, along with many other loving family members and friends.
