A Celebration of Life service will be held for Rebecca Lynne May, 60, of Kemp, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, followed by a Graveside Service at Pyle Prairie Cemetery in Kemp, Texas.
Rebecca was born in Seoul, Korea on April 21, 1963 to Hubert Morris and Mary Harbison Morris. She came to America as a small bundle but a significant blessing. She grew up in Seagoville, Texas and graduated from Seagoville High School in 1981. During her senior year of high school her family moved to the outskirts of Kemp to embark on the adventure of operating the long-standing business of The Livery Grocery Store. A business that Rebecca took part in shaping the small community that was so deeply rooted in friendship and the traditions of serving others. Even after the selling of the business, Rebecca still worked in the store and graciously served her community with her warm and joyful heart that was greatly adored in Lively. She truly loved serving her customers and treated everyone like family. Rebecca was synonymous with the Lively Grocery Store.
In 2011, Rebecca made the transition to the Kemp Independent School District in which she proudly served at every campus for 10 gratifying years. At every campus she was known for her contagious and colorful personality and the ability to make anyone smile. She not only delivered her heart to the kids, but her love language of cooking was served by tablesful of soul food and sweets for her co-workers. No campus went without her Pecan Delight. Her students trust went beyond their education as they knew she was always in their corner cheering for them on both good and bad days. “Mrs. May!” was an echo that hallways were graced with.
Rebecca was a faith driven woman that was a loyal and faithful friend to all. She never met a single stranger and always lit up the rooms she was in. Her ability to make you feel like you are on top of the world was insurmountable. Rebecca was a firecracker of a woman who loved life to the fullest with no regrets in her rearview mirror. Family meant everything to her, and she loved with every ounce of her being. She loved her husband and children deeply. Her favorite kind of day was a house full of laughter and a table full of food amongst family and friends. Rebecca will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her, but her bright light will live on in the hearts and memories of all that were blessed with knowing her colorful soul.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Morris, 1st husband, Johnny Ballard.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Michael May; children, Christy Floyd and husband, Daniel of Antlers, OK, Clayton Kile and wife, Laci of Kemp, TX, Brandi Norton and husband, Nathan of Kemp, TX, Kayla Smith and husband, Justin of Bixby, OK, Michael May and wife, Elizabeth of Kemp, TX, Nicholas May and wife, JoVanna of San Antonio, TX. 17 beautiful grandchildren; a host of other family and dear friends.
