

Robert was born on February 2, 1926 in Fort Worth, TX to parents Gregory K. Smith and Pauline E. Larsen Smith and entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2015 at the age of 89. Robert was known to most people as Bob. He cherished his family; they were the most important. Bob served in our military; The United States Army. He enjoyed going deep sea fishing, working on his farm, camping and watching westerns; especially John Wayne, he was a big fan. Bob worked for the Fort Worth Police Department for 5 years and in the time he received the “First” Officer of the Year Award in 1953. He worked in the insurance business for 30 years. Bob served on the Mabank School Board, was active with Mabank FFA and was coach for Little League Football. He was Methodist by faith. Bob was a loving caring man who will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bessie Smith, daughter Gwen Sargent-Groze, great-grandchild Nicholas Stone, brothers; Jimmy Smith, Bill Smith and Paul Smith.
He is survived by his son Greg Sargent and wife Yolanda of Edmond, OK, daughter Sandra Smith-Lilly and husband Mark of Flower Mound, son Robert J. Smith of Mabank, son Alex Smith of Mabank, grandchildren; Brad Murphey, Lee Sargent, Shana Sargent-Martinez, Dustin Holden, Crystal Steel, Cynthia Sargent-Dreier, Cali Smith and Cole Smith, numerous great-grandchildren, brother David Smith and wife Betty of Fort Worth, brother Mike Smith and wife Ginger of Fort Worth and Greg Asikis of Fort Worth, best friends Bill Preston and wife Delores of San Antonio, other loving family members and many more friends.
