Roger graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 1947. He was a Dallas Firefighter for 31 years, retiring from Station 36 as a lieutenant. Roger enjoyed the outdoors, sailing and fishing, and he loved being up in the air piloting his small personal aircraft. He spent much of his time inventing new ways to solve life's little problems, often turning old into new again and again. Roger had a boundless desire to help others, and was first to volunteer and fix what was broken. He was the center of a large, close-knit family – a place he cherished.
Roger was a longtime member of Cedar Creek Yacht Club and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church since 1995. From 1939 until moving to Cedar Creek Lake, he was an active member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Irving. Roger will be missed by many.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tom Murphy and Robert Murphy, and his son-in-law Larry Pardue.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria Ann Murphy of Trinidad, daughter Kathy Maldonado (Rick) of Wimberley, son Mike Murphy (Delaine) of Dallas, son Dan Murphy (Pat) of Duncanville, son Tim Murphy (Birta) of Benbrook, daughter Patty Pardue of Arlington, daughter Terri Norwood (David) of The Woodlands, daughter Julie Dao (Dzu) of Fort Worth, daughter Colleen Ramey (Michael) of Austin; 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many more friends.
