Shirley Beth “Holtz” Guillory was born on December 12, 1925 in Columbia, MO to parents; Herman and Ethylene Cox Holtz. She entered eternal rest on September 10, 2020 at the age of 94 in Kemp, TX. Shirley married her husband, Joseph Wilford Guillory Jr. on November 14, 1942 in Rockwall, TX and began their lives together. After spending 21 years in Westlake, Louisiana they returned to the Dallas area to be closer to family and friends. They eventually retired in 1993 making Cedar Creek their final home. She loved her husband and children dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Shirley enjoyed taking care of her family and home while pursuing a career as an Executive Administrative Assistant. Shirley was vivacious, compassionate, loving, feisty, and stubborn; she always spoke her mind. You always knew when she entered the room. She loved golf, dancing, playing bridge and the theatre. One of her favorite memories was performing in “Puppy Love and Pigs” when she was seventeen. She was mentioned in the paper for her permanent starring role in that production as part of the theatre troupe “The Madcap Players” at “The Madcap Theatre”.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Wilford Guillory Jr., parents; Herman and Ethylene Cox Holtz of Dallas, TX, sister; Mildred Landrum of Lindale, TX and son; Joseph Wilford Guillory III of Corpus Christi, TX. She is survived by her daughters; Janese Mercer and husband Donald of Kemp, TX, Janeane W. Guillory and spouse Norma Toler of Amarillo, TX; son; Jerry W. Guillory and wife Barbara of Westlake, LA. Shirley also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many more loving family and lifelong friends.
