Shirley Rae Huckeba, age 86, of Gun Barrel City, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Shirley was born October 6, 1935; to parents, William Etheridge Morris and Neva Nell Morris. She was a caring and doting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; who loved spending time with her family. Shirley was an adventurous and free spirited woman; she loved being outdoors, yardwork, boating, playing with her great grandchildren,traveling and watching her son Tony and grandson Chris race. Christian by faith, Shirley attended the First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City, TX. She retired from Republic Financial services in Dallas after 35 years of service.
She had a huge and kind heart, one that devoted time and energy entertaining and feeding her beautiful family. Shirley will be dearly missed, by all of those she met and knew in her lifetime.
She is preceded in death, by her parents, William E. Morris and Neva N. Morris; husband, Charles Huckeba; and sister, Janet Kay Bell.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Randy Huckeba and daughter-in-law, Gloria of Mesquite, TX. and Tony Huckeba and daughter-in-law, Lisa of Haslet, TX.; grandchildren, Christopher Randall Huckeba and wife Jessica, Candice Valdez and husband Erik, Nicholas Huckeba and wife Kristyn, Andrew Huckeba and wife Celaina, Ashley Thompson and husband Philip, and Tyler Tindal; great-grandchildren, Carlee Regann Huckeba, Julianna Leigh Huckeba, Enzo Ray Valdez, Ashtyn Marie Huckeba, Brandon Keith Huckeba, Cooper Austin Huckeba, Audrey Claire Huckeba, Nathan Charles Huckeba, Olivia Ryan Thompson, and Elliette Claire Thompson; cousins Dorothy Smith and Truitt Lewis, brother in law Charles Carter, sister in laws Margie Bell and Linda Bell, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home; Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 10:00am, officiated by Reverend Bryan Jones. A burial will follow at 2:30 PM at the Greenview Cemetery in Brashear, TX.
