Melvin L. (Speedy) Rawlinson died October 17, 2021, from lung cancer. Speedy was born July 22, 1937 to Charles and Maggie B Shepherd Rawlinson. He earned his nickname by being born in an elevator at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He made his dramatic appearance at an early age, if you know Speedy that was his way. Speedy and his brother Gerald were partners of C & R Transmissions for 50 years. They were partners in many joint adventures through the years. Speedy was loved by many and brought smiles and laughter to all.
Speedy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maggie; brothers, Charles and Richard; sister, Nancy Fritz. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley; one brother Gerald; two daughters, Shirlene and Shannon; grandchildren, Michael Duke, Amy Gary, Rikki Thompson; great grandchildren; Allie Duke, Kayleigh Freeman, Cason Duke, Connor Gary; great-great grandchildren Brinleigh, Kyler and Preston Freeman; brother-in-law Ray Fritz and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation Service will be held in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:00pm, followed by a Graveside Service held at Little Bethel Memorial, located in Duncanville, Tx.
