Sadie graduated from Jewett High School. She attended the University of Houston and went on to attend the American Institute of Banking. Sadie worked for First City National Bank in Houston, Texas as a Vice President and bank auditor. In the early 1950’s, Sadie won a National Championship in Volleyball, she was quite an accomplished athlete. After moving to the Cedar Creek Lake area, she became a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist. There she became very active, serving as a Lay Minister, U.M Women Forever Young and Walk to Emmaus. Sadie was also a member of the Cedar Creek Women’s Club and the P.O.A. in Carolyn Estates, where she lived. She enjoyed playing cards, 42 and reading. Sadie loved her sports; college football and especially the Texas Rangers. She loved traveling and visiting new places, you might say she was a world traveler. Sadie was an amazing lady, with a beautiful heart and smile. She will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved her.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, as well as husbands Carl W. Thompson and Joe Spawn.
She is survived by her loving sister Helen Thornton of Gun Barrel City, son Wayne Thompson and his wife Janice of Donie, granddaughter Lisa Thompson Moore of Parker, Colorado, great-granddaughter Delaney Thompson Moore of Bennett, Colorado, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
