

Virginia was born on May 6, 1928 in Van Zandt County, TX to parents Jerome and Vena (Long) Groom and entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2014 at the age of 86. Virginia was known as “Aunt Ginner” to her family. She graduated from Mabank High School in 1946. Virginia worked several years as a bookkeeper for her brothers business. She loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers, especially roses. Virginia enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and her favorite show was “Wheel of Fortune”. She made the best banana pudding and her recipe had been handed down from her mother. Virginia enjoyed riding in her 1965 Red Thurnderbird, that her son had bought her for her birthday. She entered it in many car shows and won 1st Place at the Amon Carter Yellow Rose Car Show. Virginia was a member of the Lyonees Club, where she was secretary. Virginia loved to play forty two at the Mabank Senior Citizens Center. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mabank. Virginia was a very loving and caring lady who will be missed by all who knew her.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Wright, four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Owen Wright of Mabank, son Dennis Wright of Mabank, daughter Andrea Claxton and husband David of Rice granddaughters Tiffany Barrett and husband Dustan of Mabank, Shelly Meadows of Canton, grandson Caleb Meadows of Rice, great-grandson Peyton Meadows and great-granddaughter Karissa Breckel, brother Estle Groom of Mabank, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, a host of friends and her precious pug “Sweetie”.
