Albert Leroy Light, 88, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1935 in Hoxie, AR, the son of Julius and Savannah (Brewer) Light. Served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. Married Mary Lee on November 2, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois. He worked in various positions in the building trades and managed large project construction. Albert enjoyed watching westerns, visiting with family and fishing.
Survivors include wife, Mary Light; children, Donnie (Barbara) Light, Timothy (Jill) Light, Jimmie (Roberta) Light, Theresa Cunningham, Kenneth (Jenna) Light; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Ruthann Singery. Predeceased by parents; son, John Light; siblings, Martha McWilliams, Ray Light, Judy Buchannon; grandsons, Dustin Light and Lucas Light.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Inurnment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
