

Born on June 4, 1925, in Chisholm, MN, son of Alvin B. and Estelle (Anderson) Dugar, Al moved to Rockford in 1941, graduated from East High School, and served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. As a rifleman in the 95th Infantry Division, he served in England, France and Germany receiving the Purple Heart (November 16, 1944). Graduating from Northwestern University in 1950, he worked for 28 years at Woodward as a product engineer. On October 19, 1957, Al married his beloved Frances M. Lange. He was a member of Court Street Methodist Church and Tebala Shrine.
Al is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fran; Fran’s sister Honey (Jim) Tooley; niece Darlene (George) Brushaber; nephew Dale Johnson; nephews Gary Schlehuber, Jim (Teresa) Schlehuber, Michael (Chudar) Schlehuber and David (Kathy) Tooley; nieces Nancie (Larry) Brown and Karen Schlehuber.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; nephew Larry Schlehuber; one brother and three sisters.

A memorial service to celebrate Al’s life will be 2:00 pm Thursday December 15, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Internment with Military Honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
