

Anna Marie (Ann) Harwood, formerly Anna Simms, went to her final resting place on Sunday, February 4th. Born on November 8th, 1931 to Wesley and Evelyn Simms in Fairfield, Illinois. She met and later married her soulmate Darwin Harwood of Rockford, Illinois on July 1st, 1950. They were blessed with six children, Danny Eugene (Sonnie) Harwood, Diane (Tim) Wincapaw, Linda (Jerry) Spataro, Tammy (Hank) Lipinski, Pammy (Bob) Phillips, and Kimmie (Jon) Pothour.
Ann was employed by the Harlem School District for many years before she retired. She was a long time resident of Machesney Park, Illinois. Ann and her husband were also longtime residents of Palmetto, Florida for many years. They lived at Tropic Isle Estates and over the years made many friends and memories. Three years ago she moved back home and resided at TLC Living Community in Machesney Park. Ann was also a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Loves Park, Illinois. One of her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to bake and share her treats with others.
Survivors include five daughters, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one sister, three sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews along with a multitude of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her only son, two grandsons, and four siblings.

A visitation for Ann will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, Illinois 61111, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. A private family burial will follow.
