

Benjamin Franklin Greenwaldt, 84, of Rockford passed away December 28, 2014. Born April 19, 1930 in Bertha, MN; he was son of Alfred and Angie (Riley) Greenwaldt. He married Joyce Johnson on November 5, 1955 in Fargo, ND.
A U.S. Air Force Veteran, Ben retired from Chrysler after more than 25 years of employment. He was a member of Spring Creek United Church of Christ, Local 1268 UAW Chrysler, American Legion, Local 77 and a Life-time member of the Harmony Club.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, playing cards and most of all spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Greenwaldt; children, Sandy Johnson (Steve Hollenbeck), Brian (Cindy) Greenwaldt, Sarah (Mitch) Proctor, and Julie (Dustin) Eklund; grandchildren, Corey Greenwaldt (Micaela Ashby), Jacob Powell, Ryan Cox, Matt Cox, Austin and Aydin Eklund, and Crystal Powell; great-grandchildren, Corisa Powell and Finn Greenwaldt; sisters, Violet Larson, Vera Dickman, and Irene Monahan; brothers, Bob (Lorraine), Gerald (Shelba), and Phil (Mary Ann) Greenwaldt; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, son, Bradley Greenwaldt; sisters, Alice Greenwaldt and Florence Larson; brother, Kenneth Greenwaldt.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3rd, at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Road, Rockford; Pastor Ivan Schoen officiating. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 2nd, at Sunset Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or Spring Creek UCC.
