Betty M. Peterson, 94, of Rockford passed away Saturday March 24, 2018 Presence Cor Mariae Center with family at her side. Betty was born on April 4, 1923 in Rockford, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Sirton. She married Ralph W. Peterson on February 8, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2002. Betty was a member of Alpine Lutheran Church and member of the Sinnissippi Quilters Guild. Betty was retired from Woodward Governor and an accomplished seamstress. She loved to cook, gardening and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughter Kemi (Jeff) Baxter and daughter-in-law Marcia Peterson; granddaughter Emily (Eric) Schneider and their children Cole, Camden, Calleigh and Kyla, granddaughter Melinda (Mehrun) Elyaderani and their children Perry, Greyson and Paxon, granddaughter Ann (Kris) Erb and their children Runner, Lucky and Indigo, granddaughter Erika (Randy) Ebert and their child Carter; several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Charles Peterson and sister Isabelle Hagney.

Service to celebrate Betty’s life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
