Bonnie L Kopcio

Bonnie was born in the city of Rockford, Illinois. She was the fourth child and second daughter to Harold and Vergene Berg.

Bonnie attended PA Peterson Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and Rockford East High School, before attending Rock Valley College. On July 6, 1974 she married the love of her life, George Kopcio. She worked for Nielson’s Music Box gift shop and spent several years at UPS before retiring. Bonnie was a long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Vergene Berg and brothers John, and Philip.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, George, two children Adam (Pamela) Kopcio and Jessica (Dave) DeRosso, sisters Nellie Winters, and Hilary (Nicky) Belcher. Bonnie was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren Xavier “Butchy” Kopcio, Jaxon and Xander DeRosso: Grace, Annalyse, Adam “Jonathan”, Jakob, Lillian, and Allison Kopcio. She will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie made a lifetime of memories with many loving friends whom over the years provided unwavering love and support. Especially, Ken and Julie Dean, Mary and Ray Smith, Tom and Sharon Harradine, Mike and Barb Garren, Ken “Buzzy” Marske, and Dean Reynolds.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10 at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until time of service. Per Bonnie's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
