Catherine L. Nason, 76, of Lena, IL passed away surrounded by family on September 23, 2022. She was born on September 18, 1946 in Rockford, IL to Francis and Lola (Cave) Schmit. Catherine graduated from Boylan High School. She married the love of her life, Fred Nason Jr., on September 13, 1965 and together they raised 2 children. Catherine worked at Warner Lambert for 28 years. She loved to play cards, gamble, anything to do with racing, flowers, hummingbirds, and the Chicago Bears. Catherine loved meeting with her sisters every week to spend time together. Family was very important to Catherine, especially her grandchildren. She would do anything for her grandchildren. Catherine was a kind, caring, and patient person. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Catherine is survived by her children, Fred Nason and Christine (Darren) Hodges; grandchildren, Austin (Taylor) Nason, Noellani Hodges, and Keegen Hodges; her great-grandchild, Levi Nason; her siblings, John (Karla) Schmit, Nancy (Ross) Ellison, Suzie (Bill) Spielman, Pat Miley, Joannie Heisterberg, Joe (Lisa) Schmit; her brother-in-law, Bob (Fran) Nason; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred Nason Jr.; her parents, Francis and Lola Schmit; her sisters-in-law, Doris Rush, Betty Johnson, and Charlotte Fischel; and her brother-in-law, Bill Heisterberg.
Funeral Service for Catherine will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until the start of services. Inurnment at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
