

Clifford R. Sandberg, 93, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on May 14, 2021. Cliff was born on March 24, 1928, in Kewanee, Illinois. For the early part of his childhood Cliff lived at Princeton Illinois Covenant Children’s Home due to the passing of his parents when he was young. After being at the children’s home for 8 years, Mel and Myrt Anderson took Cliff in and raised him as their own. He began an apprenticeship with Peterson Construction shortly after graduating from Moline High School in 1947. Cliff was self-employed as a Building Contractor for 47 years. Cliff was extremely involved in his community and church; from being a chairman trustee in Moline to coaching youth basketball and teaching kids. In 1970 when Cliff moved to Rockford, he married Inga Holaine. He also became a member of First Free Church in Rockford.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Inga Sandberg; children, Laura (Rick) Cochuyt, Connie (Kenny) Dodson, Bruce (Lisa) Sandberg, Mark (Marcia) Larson, Shari (Larry) Sparks, Jodi K, and Jeff (Carol) Larson; 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sister in law, Jessie Sandberg; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and brothers, Paul (Ilda) Sandberg, Don Sandberg and Larry (Alice) Sandberg.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:30am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30am at First Free Church (2223 N. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61107). In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Timber-Lee or First Free Church in Rockford, Illinois.
