Craig M. Gorkowski, 48, of Rockford, IL, passed away suddenly Monday, July 6, 2020. He was born December 5, 1971 in Rockford, the son of Michael P. and Margaret M. (McDonald) Gorkowski. Craig graduated from Boylan High School, class of 1990. Craig was a proud coach and supporter of the Rockford Special Olympics since the age of 18. He had fun BMX racing with his son, and with the Rockford Bicycle Co Team. Craig had always admired the Porsche 911. He enjoyed being in the yard, landscaping and doing projects on the house. Craig was always helping his neighbors and made many friends in the neighborhood. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan.
Craig is loved and missed by his son, Kaden Gorkowski; brother, Kristin Gorkowski; mother of his child, Lindsey Gorkowski; aunts and uncle, Patrica Hager, Michael McDonald, and Pamela (Russell) Wenz; as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Private Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a trust fund that will be created for Kaden and Kristin. Checks may be payable to Lindsey Gorkowski.
