Dakota M. Smith

Dakota M. Smith, 20, of Machesney Park IL, went to be with the Lord February 18, 2022. He was born on September 21, 2001 to Natasha Smith and Jeremey Phillippi. Dakota loved the people around him. He was deeply cherished by his family, bonus family, and his many friends at Walter Lawson Children’s Home. He enjoyed listening to stories and spending time with those he loved. He especially liked Spongebob. He will be missed by many. His passing brings great sadness but there is great comfort that Dakota took his first steps in the presence of the Lord and he has no pain or earthly limitations in his eternal body.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents; Natasha and Jeremey, siblings; Alexa and Barrett, maternal grandparents Jerald and Amber Richards, as well as numerous aunts and uncles and extended family, he is also survived by his family beyond blood; Mary and Rodney Lenzendorf and their family which includes his best friend, Hunter. He is welcomed into heaven by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents, and his infant twin brother, Damian.

A memorial service for Dakota will be held on Tuesday February 22 at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A visitation will take place at 5pm until the time of service.
