

Dean was born on April 4, 1926 in Prophetstown, IL, the son of Harry and Emma (Carlson) Wagner. Dean was a member of Taber Lutheran Church and worked for 35 years at Roper Whitney as an accountant. Dean was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Dean was an avid golfer, ping pong player and enjoyed playing cards. He enjoyed and took great pride in his yard, was a lifelong Cub, Bears fan and after his retirement enjoyed being a volunteer at Swedish American Hospital.
Dean was a loving father and is survived by his sons: Dennis Wagner and David (Linda) Wagner; daughter Lori (Bill) Collins; grandson Robert Wagner and four step-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Fairhavens Christian Home for their loving care that was given to Dean.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Taber Lutheran Church in Rockford.
A service to celebrate Dean’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday December 26, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services.
