

Deloris L. Mahler passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Bickford of Rockford. Deloris was born on 5/3/1920 in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio to Henry and Minnie (Schroeder) Dehnke. She graduated valedictorian of her class and completed 2 years of college at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Her love was math. She married Walter (Bud) Mahler on April 11, 1942, spending their first years of marriage together while he was in the service. After the war, they eventually settled in Syracuse, New York. She and her family later relocated to Rockford, Illinois in 1971 and she lived there until her passing.
Deloris and her family were longstanding members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was very active. She was also an accomplished bridge player playing with various clubs up to 100 years old. She also worked in the Oncology Department at Swedish American Hospital and was a volunteer there after her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Roger E. Mahler (Dorothy Mahler), her daughters Linda S. Cooper (Chuck Cooper) and Lisa A. Bram (Ken Bram) granddaughters Kristen Mahler (Melissa Mahler) and Greta Gorsuch, great grandchildren Landis Mahler, Berkley Mahler, Carlisle Mahler, Aberdeen Mahler and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter G. Mahler, and her siblings Thelma Kleck, Freeman Dehnke, and Doris Winzeler.
