Beth, when I lost my mom I had 10 months to prepare, you found out from a stranger then had to hop in the car with Kayla and drive 10 hours straight into the lions den. You have done nothing but handle your dads business and kick ass and take names while doing it. Your dad would be proud of you and my mom would say your a badass. When you take your dad home and find a place to lay him to rest   my family will come  down and we can lay their ashes together the way they would want it. 
All of the best parts of Dennis are in both of you and I hope everyone in Dennis's family is proud to call you family after today.
Thats what I had prepared and this is what Dennis meant to my family. I hope my mom is complaining to somebody that your on her last nerve already after only a week of being there,
I love you man.

Nothing I could ever do could repay him for that. 
     Nothing that has happened in the past week reflects on Dennis in any way. And nothing you have seen or heard about me doing is because anything is special about me, its not. Its because my mom and Dennis would expect me to look out for his girls. 
     A few days before my moms wedding she told me she was trying really hard not to die before the wedding. She really didnt want to disappoint Dennis. She was only staying awake for 15 min a day leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding she stayed up for a whole hour and did the best she could and gave all she had. After my wife and I took her home my mom never woke up again. When my mom took her last breath Dennis, Tommy , and I held her in her bed while Tank , the dog she found in an alley in February years before, slept on her legs and never moved. That is something that will always hold us together.                
     You know I had someone yell at me across a parking lot this past week that Dennis didnt care about me. Dennis cared about everybody and anyone who really knew him could tell you that. 
      To close I want to speak to the 2 most important people reading this, Kay Mathis and Beth Modloff. You guys didnt know me a week ago and now you have seen me cry more than most of my family, sorry for putting you through that. A lot of the past week has felt like losing my mom all over again.
     Kayla we had a day outside the hotel and your mom was breaking down and you were being so kind and comforting her and holding her and it made me miss my mom so bad. If any of my kids love me as much as you love your mom then im a very lucky man. Your grandpa Dennis and my mom, your mom and dad, and everybody who reads this is proud of you and your going to have an amazing life and leave a big impact like your grandpa did.

I spent a long time last night writing this and here is what Dennis Modloff meant to my family.
I know a lot of you dont know me, my name is Jerry Bunders and Sandy was my mom. I first heard about Dennis through phone calls and heard my mom talk with real excitement in her voice. She was in her early 50's sounding like a teenager bragging about all the fun stuff they were doing. 
To Dennis my mom was like hitting the lottery and he was just genuinely proud to stand next to her. Dennis was always trying very hard to be cool. Look at a picture of him standing next to my mom and you can see on his face how good being with my mom made him feel. Dennis loved making my mom and always tried to keep her laughing even after she got sick. It would always end with my mom yelling " Goddammit Dennis". I would love to hear that right now.
One of the things my mom loved the most about Dennis is that he cared about Tommy and me and wanted a big family. My brother isnt here to say it but Dennis really loved my brother and he took Tommy under his wing for and spent over 5 years trying to teach him how to be a mechanic and run a shop.They fought and got along like an old married couple and it was always hilarious to listen to. I hope that someday my brother can get his life together and find a way to honor Dennis and my mom like they deserve. I didnt even meet Dennis in person til I was 33 years old. I can stand here and tell you Dennis did more for my mom and Tommy and me than both our dads and all the guys my mom ever dated combined.
         I have a 20 and 17 year old son and they are both taller than me and it gets on my nerves lol. I have pictures of them waist high at a Rockford Icehogs game with Dennis and they had on the jerseys, had the hockey sticks , pucks, the whole setup. Those kids had like 300$ worth of Icehogs merch on between the two of them and the biggest smiles on both their faces. Dennis did that for them and and he was there for my family when I couldnt be.

I met Dennis Thru My Brother in 2001. They worked together at a Nissan Dealer, I am so very proud to call Dennis a true Friend! 
Even though you're gone, your memory will always be with us. You touched so many lives, and we'll always remember your kindness and spirit. Rest easy, and know you'll be missed!

What do you say at such heartbreaking times like this... you befriended me with no questions asked... consoled me when I was going through so much after my mother's passing and even at other personal times of sorrow..but your friendship never waivered,  it was given with nothing but pure love and kindness.... I will forever be grateful and appreciate having you to have blessed my life with your friendship, I hope you and sandy are dancing above reunited in heaven showering us all with your love ...RIP my friend I will miss you always and always remember to enjoy life more as we never know what tomorrow  brings.
