Diane Ruth Juhnke passed away at Saint Anne Place on July 20, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born Diane Ruth Hall in Rockford, Illinois in 1938. She was a Cadet Lt. in the Civil Air Patrol in 1955, graduated from Harlem High School in 1956, and earned her bachelors degree in Art from Northern Illinois University.
Diane, like her mother Henrietta Spielman, was a talented artist and member of the Rockford Art Guild for many years, exhibiting works at Rockford area shows and winning awards for her work. She was also an active member of the North Suburban Women's Club for many years.
Diane was a loving and proud mother of five children by way of their father Harry Charles Moline. She was always finding the time and patience to listen to their stories, as well as teaching them to be independent thinkers. She showed them how to garden and taught them the importance of nutrition. As life around her began to change, and their marriage was dissolved, she adapted to her circumstances in order to provide for her family.
She used her artistic skills for many years as a muralist, and at Rockford Silk Screen, before moving on to Rainbow Health Foods in Loves Park.
It was at this time that she, through attending First Assembly of God, met Duane Juhnke. Their courtship grew into a marriage of nearly 40 years (her dear husband Duane passing in 2019, just shy of their 40th anniversary), and happily expanded her family, adding four new step-daughters whom she greatly loved and appreciated. She and her husband were active in their church community for many years, and Diane remained active in outreach work, from home, at church, and in the community up to and even through the Covid years.
Diane is survived by her son, Robert Moline and his children Austin, Gabriel (Brooke), Landon (Kelly), Pierce, and Reece Moline; her son William (Deb) Moline, their children, Caleb, Corbin, and Courtney Moline, and Christiana (Jake) Horton; son-in-law, Robert (Kathy) Turner, and children Jessica (Amanda), Michael (Carly), Kelsey, and Jonathan Turner; and son, Steven (Tonya) Moline, and their daughter Lily;
step-daughters, Kim Gustafson and her child Kelly; Trina (Steve) Pearce, and their children Ilea (Adrian), Morgan, and Tara (Spencer) Caruana; Deon (Bartolo) Fresco, and their children Elsa, Edermira (Juan), Bartolo Jr.(Yanieska), and Marcial (Rebecca), and Ryan; and Sharla Bachrodt and her children Bethany (Jon) Moore and Connor (Cassandra) Bachrodt; sisters-in-law, Mary Hall, Coni (Ken) Stein, Wendy (Scott) Calacci, and Gail Coniglio; brother-in-law, Jim (Debbie) Corbett; dear friend & step-sister, Barb Joesten; nieces Pamela (Jeremy) Salazar, Amy (Greg) Varhely; nephews Greg Williams and Andy (Chanin) Williams; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Horton, & Connor and Charlotte Turner; and numerous friends in the Lord at Greencastle and throughout the Rockford area, like her dear friend Charlotte Morely.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Duane Arthur Juhnke; her parents, Willard Byron Hall and Henrietta Eccles Spielman; dear brother, James Byron Hall, and beloved daughters, Christine Harrison and Kathryn Turner.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to OSF Hospice in honor of Diane.
Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at City First Church (formerly First Assembly of God, Rockford), corner of N. Mulford and Spring Creek Roads. Visitation at 10am with Memorial Service at 11am. Place of rest will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park.
