Elmer L. Peterson, 87. On October 25, 2015, the good Lord welcomed Elmer into a beautiful place called heaven. Elmer was born in Rockford, IL to Carl and Emma (Prentiss) Peterson and lived his whole life in Rockford. He married Anita Gonzales on February 24, 1951. Elmer is a military veteran and a retired employee of Sunstrand after 42 years. Elmer was a big family man, loved his grandchildren and his great granddaughters “the girls”. Dancing, golf and music were his favorite things outside of his family and with his family, humming till the end.
Elmer is survived by daughter; Deb (Steve) Timmerman; granddaughter, Steph (Jared) Powless; grandson, Nic (Lisa) Timmerman, granddaughter, Ashley Peterson; great granddaughters, McKynlee and Maycee Powless; daughter-in-law, Candis Peterson; brother, Carl “Snub” Peterson. Predeceased by parents; wife; son, Terry; brothers, Roy, Everett, Robert, and Raymond.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd. Rockford, IL. Visitation: 9 – 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
