

George William Lengjak, age 89, of Roscoe, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was born December 2, 1935 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the son of Michael and Elizabeth (Hromluk) Lengjak. George was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from North Union Township High School, class of 1953. George belonged to the Outdoor Club, Historian Club, Model Airplane Club, the Rifle Club and the Civics Club while attending school. He also played basketball in high school. George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. George was very proud to attend Vets Roll in 2014. He married the love of his life, Laura Molzahn, on September 29, 1962 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in South Beloit, IL. George spent 25 years in Laborers Local 1440, and another 25 years as the Business Agent for the same Local, which he enjoyed tremendously, retiring in 2000. He attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in South Beloit. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, any outdoor activity and playing baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time outside mowing his lawn. George was a sport nut, especially cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Most of all, George loved spending time with his family.
George is loved and missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Laura; children, Cynthia (Brian) Bemis, William (Min) Lengjak, Michael (Bobbi) Lengjak, Steven (Carrie) Lengjak, James (Molly) Lengjak and Robert Lengjak; Godson, Curt (Traci) Lindsey; grandchildren, Ethan Lengjak, Elijah Lengjak, Evan Lengjak, Emerson Lengjak, Joseph Lengjak, Jacob Lengjak, Wyatt Bemis, Jessi Bemis, Meghan (Colton) Smeltzer, Molly Lindsey, Olivia Lindsey and Owen Lindsey; bonus granddaughter, Abigail (Joe) Allen; great-granddaughter, Hallie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Mrosko, Margaret Smith, Mary Wauwroski, Anna Zemlon and Julie Lengjak, brothers John Lengjak, Michael Lengjak, Charles Lengjak and Frank "Fay" Lengjak.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of UW Swedish American Hospital for their loving and compassionate care of George.
A celebration of life will take place from 1:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Roscoe VFW, 11385 2nd St, Roscoe, IL 61073.
