Gerald Jerry Swiggum

He was born on January 25, 1937 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Henry and Gladys (Parkhurst) Storer. Jerry served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He married Shirley Edgar in 1960 and later married Mary “Suzy” Miller in 1981.

Jerry was employed at Gunite Foundry for 30 years. He traveled a lot, riding his Honda Gold Wing, and loved his little dogs. He especially enjoyed his family, neighbors and friends; he was always willing to lend a helping hand

Jerry is survived by his children, Cheryl (Ron) Razim, Steve Swiggum, Jerry Swiggum, Loren (Jennifer Hullinger) Swiggum and Rona (Donnie Nelson Jr.) Swiggum; his sister, Joan (Walter) Steinmetz; special cousin, Robert (Monica) Parr; his grandchildren Nathan (Christy) Razim, Troy Razim, Tricia Swiggum, Rhiannon Stine, Brittney Swiggum, Treavor Swiggum and several great grandchildren. In addition, he will be greatly missed by numerous close friends, relatives and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Suzy” Swiggum; Shirley Swiggum, the mother of his children, and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 4pm to 6pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Road, Machesney Park IL. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May2, 2012, 11 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pastor Dan Herman will be officiating.
