Geraldine G. Houy, 71, of Roscoe, IL, formerly of Birchwood, WI, passed away December 25, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1950 in Rockford to James and Rose McKee. Gerri was a deeply dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved traveling, volunteering, as well as playing cards and spending quality time with those she loved. She worked for many organizations in the Rockford area that provided support and care to the community. She worked for Janet Wattles Center, providing mental health recourses. She also worked for an Emergency Animal Hospital, and she volunteered for Birchwood Senior Center. Gerri was a member of the Forest City Dog Training Club as well as the Medallion Rottweiler Club. She loved her Rottweilers. Gerri enjoyed the vacations with her sisters and the close relationship they all shared. She enjoyed hosting loved ones at her home on the lake in Birchwood. They raised their children closely with annual Turtle Lake vacations, weekly Sunday dinners, and strong family bonds. Her favorite trips included visits to South Padre Island, Alaska, and being married in Jamaica. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her children; Carolyn (Cliff) Carr, and Jeff Kittner, grandchildren; Colton, Julian, and Ayden, as well as her sisters; Sharon Johnson, Jan Ditsworth, and Cindy Smyth.
She is predeceased by her loving husband; Mike Houy, Parents; James and Rose McKee, as well as her sister; Jackie Haynes, and brother; James McKee.
A funeral service for Geraldine is scheduled for Wednesday December 29, at 10am, at Sunset Funeral Home. Located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. A visitation will take place at 9am until the time of service.
