Godfrey McClure, 88, of Rockford died Monday, October 11, 2010 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born December 18, 1921 in Louisville, IL the son of Otto and Eva McClure. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Godfrey worked as a staff engineer for Commonwealth Edison for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking. Godfrey married Bernice Hilt on December 25, 1946. Survivors include his wife Bernice, sons, Tim (Bonnie) McClure of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Gary (Sandy) of Cherry Valley, IL; grandchildren, Kelly (Ed) Klassen of Rockford, IL, Scott (Tina) McClure of Waterman, IL, Katie (Danny) Hawley of Rockford, IL, Brian McClure of Arlington Heights, IL, six great-grandchildren, sister, Charlene Hightower, sister-in-law Rosella McClure both of Effingham, IL, brother Max, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday, October 15, 2010 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
