Irene G. McGlynn, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away surrounded by her family on August 9, 2022 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. She was born in Mount Prospect, IL on July 22, 1935 to William and Mary (Pauling) Nightingale. Irene attended Arlington Heights High School. She married her soulmate, Richard McGlynn, on January 21, 1956 and together they raised 3 children. Irene and Richard moved their family to Rockford, IL in 1973. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and made many lifelong friends there. Irene stayed home while the children were young to take care of them and the household. She enjoyed sketching, painting, gardening, hunting for antiques, and traveling with her husband. Irene always looked forward to spending the holidays with her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Irene is survived by her children, Kim (Tom) Brackett, Kris Schinault, and Mike (Mary) McGlynn; her grandchildren, Kelly (Sean) Strain, James (Stephanie) O’Donnell, Joseph (Jamie) O’Donnell, Sarah Brackett, Daniel Schinault, David Schinault, Tyler Norris, Matthew McGlynn, Cullen McGlynn, and Ryan McGlynn; her 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Florence Kehe; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard; her parents, William and Mary; and her brother, Arthur Nightingale.
The family is planning a memorial service for Irene at a later date and will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 North Bell School Road, Rockford, IL 61107.
