Jack R. Kruit, 77, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, October 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1946 in Rockford, IL, the son of Jess and Kathleen (Nordvall) Kruit. Jack graduated from West High School and went on to work as a machinist at Barber Colman and retired from Invensys. He married the love of his life, Constance "Connie" Otten on October 9, 1970 in Rockford. Jack enjoyed biking with his son, Jason Kruit and friends from Blackhawk Bicycle Club. He liked tinkering with things, working with his hands and building computers. Jack was a great cook and also could cut a rug on the dance floor. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
Jack is loved and missed by his wife of 53 years, Connie; children, Jason (Dawn) Kruit and Janell Kruit; grandchildren, Aydin and Eli Kruit and Brysen and Kinsley Forshier; sister, Jill (Van) Merkel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Jerry, Jean and John.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
