James Saxton

James William Saxton, 67, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2021 at UW-Madison Hospital. He was born May 13, 1954 in Rockford, IL, the son of William and Lillian (DeCori) Saxton. Jim married Josephine Loven on May 8, 1976 at Saint Anthony’s Church in Rockford. He was an Electrician and in the Elevator trades for many years. Jim was a member of the Elevator Union Local 132. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Jim always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face. He enjoyed traveling with Josephine on cruises; and going to Door County with his brother in laws and sisters in law. Jim and his sister had a special bond and he loved picking on her. He enjoyed going to his trailer in the Wisconsin Dells. Jim adored his job and the people he worked with. Most of all, Jim loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his four legged child, Bailey.

Jim is loved and missed by his wife, Josephine; children, Joe (Quianna) Saxton and Michael (Sarah) Saxton; grandchildren, Breanna, Danielle, Caiden and Christian; special sister, Barb Calvette; brother in laws, John (Kathy) Loven and Joe (Ilona) Loven; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son John, brother in law Richard Calvette, father in law and mother in law, Rodger and Theresa Loven and sister in law, Patti Loven.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
