Janet M. Johnson, 92, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully Monday morning, November 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Earl C. and Helen (Nielson) Wilson. She married Donald L. Johnson on July 25, 1970. Janet was employed at Quaker Oats for 20 years until retiring. Janet frequented the LLL Society and the Keenage Center in Belvidere. She loved playing card games and playing yahtzee. Janet enjoyed crocheting, doing ceramics and watching tv. She liked going fishing at the Lake Koshkonong. Janet loved her dogs, Scooter, Heidi and Phoebe. She enjoyed reading in her spare time. Most of all, she adored spending time with her family.
Janet is loved and missed by her children, Steven Witz, Randy (Cathy) Witz, Karen (Bill) Dady, Sharon Geiselhart and Rick Witz; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ron (Joy) Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, grandchildren, Belinda West, Michael Geiselhart, Amber Witz and Tim Witz, siblings, Earl C. Wilson, Jr, and Vaughn Ufken.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to invite you to a luncheon immediately following the service. The luncheon will be held at The Live and Let Live Society (3L Club) located at 1515 9th Street Rockford Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice.
