Our hearts break as we share that Jaxon Rees Olivencia suddenly passed on April 26, 2025. Jaxon was a sweet soul with a bright light of a personality. He filled rooms with laughter, added an infectious spirit to our family, and touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether it was with a quick smile, a strong friendship, or a joke that made us all laugh, his character will be deeply missed. Our sweet boy was a son, a sibling, a friend, and a dreamer. Jaxon carried so much joy and happiness during his short time on this earth. He was a talented artist who had his work displayed at multiple venues in Rockford. His art will continue to be displayed at an upcoming Pop-Up Shop at Rockford Art Deli. He also aspired to be a musician and was a self-taught guitar player who was continually inspired by his favorite band, Slayer.
From a young age, Jaxon had boundless energy and a big heart that we all needed. Jaxon loved to wrestle and was a member of Auburn High School’s Varsity wrestling team where he took 3rd place at the 2024 NIC 10 Regional Conference for his weight class. He was also a member of Auburn’s Junior Varsity football team. Though his time here was brief, we all witnessed his love for life, his family, and his hobbies. Jaxon left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him, and we are grateful for every moment, every memory, and every bit of love we were lucky enough to share.
Jaxon is survived by his parents Jose Olivencia III and Abby Olivencia (Frey), biological mother Terra Gazlay; his siblings Trinity, Leela, Rayna, and Kai; his grandparents which include his Jose Jr. (Abuelo), Grandma Jean, and Kellie (Jellie) Olivencia, Grandpa Jon and Grandma Jodi Frey, his great-grandmothers Carmen Bonilla (Bisabuela), and Delores Mikkelson (Grandma-mom); as well as his Aunts and Uncles Cristina and Erik, Eric and Destinee, Joseph and Brenda, and Raquel and Leo, and his many cousins. His friends will miss him dearly, including his best friends Antione and Kaleb, who all plan to forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A visitation for Jaxon “Our Little Champion” will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115, followed by a time of sharing from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
All are welcome to honor the life of a vibrant soul gone too soon.
*In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to their Go Fund Me page.
Fly high and rock on, our sweet Jaxon. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
