Jerry L. Putnam

Jerry L. Putnam, 76, of Rockford, IL. died Sunday, August 14, 2016. Born April 3, 1940 in Rockford, IL. to Carlton and Mary Jeanette (Pohl) Putnam. Jerry worked at Barber Coleman until retirement. He was a member of Jehovah Witness. In 1988 he married Joyce Hobbs and shared 28 years together. They enjoyed traveling to Upper Michigan to visit with family and attend reunions. He enjoyed showcasing his woodworking talents by displaying beautiful creations in his yard, home and sharing them with family. He was the biggest cheerleader for all his children and grandchildren, attending as many events as he was able. Jerry enjoyed fishing, dinners at Linos and Famous Daves and the simple pleasures in life.

Survivors: wife, Joyce; Jerry’s children, Tonija (Curt) Clifton, Tim (Joy) Putnam, Tracy (Randy) Knight; and their mother, Jean (Fisher) Bishop; Joyce's children, Mary (Tim) Sather, Eddie Hobbs, Greg (Jan) Hobbs; grandchildren, Jason, Joseph Ball, Tiphanie Truax, Nicole Knight, Jeremy (Michele) Sather, Miranda (Nick) Sather, Tony, Andrea Hobbs, Alexis (Rob) Phillips and Maxwell Hobbs. 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy (Don) Erdmann. Predeceased by parents; brother, Jack Putnam.
