Joan Walters, age 97, of Rockford, Illinois passed on Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was born on June 4, 1928 in Rockford, Illinois to Gilbert and Hildur (Carlson) Larson. Joan graduated from Rockford East High School. She married the love of her life, Clifford Walters, on July 16, 1949 in Rockford, and they spent 51 wonderful years together before he passed in 2001.
Joan was a member of the local American Legion. She was also a member of the North Suburban Women’s Club until their dissolution. Joan enjoyed knitting, reading, and working on puzzle books. Most of all she loved her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her children, Kristine Walters and Kent (Christel) Walters; granddaughter, Jackie Baxter-Potts; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and nieces Sandy (Michael) Shepherd and Marcia Walters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Walters, and her parents, Gilbert and Hildur Larson.
Private services will be held.
