John W. Heckman

John W. Heckman went to his heavenly home August 22, 2010 with his family by his side. Born January 7, 1934 in Davis, IL the son of George and Marjorie (Pennicoff) Heckman. He served in the U.S. Navy; he attended of Central Christian Church in Rockford. John worked as a machine repairman for Textron. John was a very loyal customer at Hollywood Restaurant; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and loyal friend. He also was an avid fisherman and bowler. He married Julia Swanson on December 9, 1961. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Julia, son, Anthony (Melinda) Heckman, daughter, Cynthia (Chuck) Frank, grandchildren, Nick, Brandon Heckman, Matthew and Marcus Frank, Abigail and Elizabeth Heckman, one great grandchild Jordan Heckman, three brothers Harold, Don and Ronnie and sister Lois, and to many adopted day care children to name. He was predeceased by parents, son, Wendell and brother Leo. Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
