John D. Hinkle, 87, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Javon Bea Hospital. John was born on April 17, 1936, in Corning, Arkansas, to James and Clara Hinkle. On March 28, 1959 John married the love of his life, Patricia Madden. They shared 60 years of marriage together. John worked at Barber Coleman for many years before becoming the business owner of John D. Hinkle Septics. Upon retiring, he and Patricia made the move to Arizona.
John loved golfing, fishing, and playing pool. He was also highly devoted to his family – especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John is loved and cherished by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Jona (Gary) Anderson; grandchildren, Krista (Mark Trujillo) Hinkle, Erica (Patrick) Baird, and Lindsey (Jason) Gourley; great-grandchildren, Stella, Smith, Lincoln, Jackson, Laila, Miles, and Rilee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; son, Daniel Hinkle; his parents and several siblings.
A funeral for John will be taking place at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., with a visitation taking place prior at 9:00 A.M. Military Honors will be taking place immediately following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
