John Manning

John Manning, 82, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, August, 19, 2010. Born on May 17, 1928 in Chicago, IL. He married Lillian LaRusso in Chicago on April 28, 1951. Graduated from Geneva High School. Proudly served his country as an Airborne Medic in the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, going on cruises, dancing, fishing, and eating and drinking with friends at Pearl and Angelo’s. Survivors include his son, John D. (Barbara) Manning; daughter, Jan (Robert Stenstrom); grandchildren, Christie (Ehren) Jarrett, Robert J. (Melissa) Stenstrom, Kelly Manning; great grandchildren, Jackson and Lillian Jarrett, Berkeley Stenstrom; sister, Elizabeth Chudy; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wife, Lillian: mother, Elizabeth Matausich; sister, Irene Klinger. Special thanks to the staff at P.A. Peterson, especially to Nurse Nilie for the loving care they provided. Funeral service at 3 pm on Monday, August 23, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home with Chaplin Dr. Charles V. Olson officiating, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Private entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
