John W Robinson

John W. Robinson, 80, of Machesney Park passed away on Friday, June 24, at Morning Star Village. John was born on July 13, 1930, he was the son of Edgar and Edith Robinson. John served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He married Sharon Appell on August,5, 1977. He retired from Chrysler as a skilled tradesman. John had a long and successful music career, playing on the radio, and on television, his Chet Atkins style of guitar playing was loved by all. John is survived by his loving wife; Sharon, of Machesney Park, children; John M. (Becky) Robinson of Machesney Park, June (Larry) Plathe of Grimes IA, Krystal (Bill) Christ of Freeport, David (Connie) Robinson of Rockford, and Karen (Jeff) Zimmerman, of Machesney Park, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, he is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter; Kelly Appell Fox. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be held following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
