Joyce H. Benson

Joyce H. Benson, 90, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, July 10, 2024 at Anam Glen in Rockford. She was born November 2, 1933 in Walnut Ridge, AR, the daughter of Jesse and Eulah (Wildes) Hutsell. Joyce married Richard Benson and he preceded her in death in 1999. Joyce went on to marry Olen Porter in June of 2007. She was a realtor in the Rockford area for many years as well as owning her own “Rent to Own” Business. Joyce was a devoted member of Lincolnwood Baptist Church where she enjoyed getting together with the “Nifty 50’s” group. She enjoyed fishing and reading. Joyce was known for carrying a shovel around and stopping her car to get a plant off the side of the road and plant it at home. Joyce was a loving and caring woman who will truly be missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Olen; children, Renee (Kirk) Montgomery and Mary (Steve) Chand; step-children, Rick (Vicky) Porter, Diane (Mike) Turner and Jeff Porter; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Jerry (Sandra) Hutsell; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hutsell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, brother James Hutsell and sister Geraldine (Dan) Ward.

A private family service will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
