Kay M. Veit

Kay M. Veit, 85, of Rockford, IL, passed away suddenly, Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026 at Swedish American Hospital surrounded by family. She was born October 29, 1940 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Bernard "Bun" and Florence (Coonrad) Von Der Vellen. Kay graduated from Muldoon High School, class of 1959. She married Robert E. Veit on January 21, 1961. Kay was a faithful member of the Catholic church. She was employed at Boylan High School for 10 years. Kay enjoyed doing ceramics. Most of all, she adored spending time with her family.

Kay is loved and missed by her son, Dale Veit; daughters, Dawn Lamaster and Brenda (Doug) Shiloh; grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Lamaster, Hillari (Michael) Woodruff, Stephanie (Domenic) Grisanzio and Kyra (Devon) Huffman; as well as great-grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Raelynn, Kennedi, Emilio, Maggie-Lyn, Gabriel and Phoebe. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Robert E. Veit.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
